Results: PA QSO Party

The PA QSO Party for '97 was an excellent contest for QRPers. PA is close by and low power power stations with simple antennas could work PA with no problem. Yes, I did that, with 223 QSOs and 62 of 67 counties. It wasn't an operator killer either. They have a period (0500-1300Z) to let EVERYONE sleep. I even got the chance to do the needed tree trimming, watch a movie, and see the Eagles get trimmed too.

Everyone I could copy, I worked, which is a bit unusual since some have their receivers set to 599+20. Not in PA, they have good ears!

On Sun afternoon, the CW started to run out of new stations, so I thought I'd see if anyone was on SSB on 80. There were so many stations on 75 that I *HAD* to get on and work them. Do you know what? You can actually work everyone in PA with QRP SSB. Worked 60 of those an some more new counties.

Sorry if you all missed the fun if you forgot it and only thought about the Hamfest and such. QRP gives you a X2 final score against the guys who run QRO.

Incidently, my part-time score is 42,346 which is 13k higher than the SNJ record set back in '87, ten years standing.

Time to put PAQP on YOUR calendar for '98!
