Fireball Run II
Contest Results

Hi QRP Contesters,
We had a nice day at the South Jersey ARA Hamfest Saturday.  NJ QRP Club set up a QRPp station to show and tell the deserving atendees all about it. N2CX, Joe Everhart gave a fine presentation about QRP as well as all the eyeball QSOs that came to the WQ2RP table.  (Joe will have more info on his part I'm sure).

At 9am EDST we started the Fireball Run II sprint at the same time. WQ2RP set up with (what else?) a Jersey Fireball xmtr, amp and keyer installed in an International Coffee tin.  Power set at 900mw. The receiver was an OHR Explorer II and the antenna was an end fed halfwave wire with the Rainbow Bridge/Tuner on two Black Widow masts.  Limited room left us with only one station for 40 meters.  Operator was N2CQ.

Results:
I got so excited in the first 15 minutes with 4 QSOs I was counting chickens in the area of 50 QSOs or so!  Not to be....  It seems that most of the 600+ Jersey Fireballs around the country are still on the shelf instead of on the air.

Stations worked:
  K1QM Joel in MA
  VE3ELA Ken in ON
AA1MY Seab in NY  (The only Fireball except WQ2RP)
  W3BBO Bob in PA
AA8PJ Jeff in OH (250 MW Homebrew Rig)
N2CX Joe in NJ   (An unusually strong for some reason!)

Score:  QSO points (15) x S/P/Cs (6) x Pwr mult (10) x Fireball Mult (1.5)
        15 x 6 x 10 x 1.5 = 1350

WQ2RP is not competing in the Run (being the sponsor).

Thanks to all we worked as well as those who gave a listen for us. Anyone who worked us or tried to hear us, let us know. Send me an e-mail for the log and/or to let us know how it went whether you worked anyone on not.

Thanks to all who helped us set the station.  Thanks for the FB QRP program presented by Joe Everhart.  Nice job, Joe!

Last but not least,  thanks for the fine operation by AA1MY. Seab started the Run from the start and kept on keeping the frequency active during the whole Sprint. This was a big help to keep the sprint alive.  Seab, I appreciate it! (Even though you're a Yankee Clipper Contester!)
