Announcing the LI/NJ QRP Doghouse Operation Sprint, jointly sponsored by the Long Island QRP & New Jersey QRP clubs. Here's a sprint that you can work and still manage to stay out of the doghouse on the Saturday afternoon prior to Thanksgiving. You can play radio, and have plenty of time to mow the lawn, clean the guest room, or do whatever it takes to get the house ready for Thanksgiving.

Date and Time:
Sat., November 22, 1997 1800-2200 UTC

Purpose:
The contest is a single-op QRP CW sprint. Try to operate as many ops in as many area codes as possible, with extra QSO points given for working members of the LIQRP and NJ-QRP clubs. Stations may be worked more than once on different bands.

Frequencies:
QRP frequencies from 80M through 10M (no WARC bands): 1.810, 3.560, 7.040, 14.060, 21.060, 28.060

Exchange:
RST, area code and first name
LI-QRP and NJ-QRP members will exchange area codes with the suffix X indicating they are worth extra QSO points. For example, I'll send "559 718X Kevin" since I'm in an extra QSO point area code. This will make tallying points much simpler.

Scoring:
2 points for all other area codes
5 points for LI/NYC/NJ/MD area codes (see below)

LI/NYC/NJ/MD Area Codes:
516 - Long Island, NY
212 & 718 - New York City
201, 609, 732, 908 & 973 - New Jersey
202, 301, 410 & 703 - Maryland

Power Multipliers:
Less than 1 watt x 10
1 to 5 watts x 7

Bonus points:
Portable location, battery operation with temporary antennas: 2,000 points.
Battery operation from home location: 1,000 points.

Total points:
(QSO points x power multiplier) + bonus points

Certificates:
Certificates will be awarded for the higest overall total score, most area codes worked, most extra area codes worked (from the LI/NYC/NJ/MD list above) and most number of LIQRP/NJ-QRP members worked.

Logs:
Submit logs by December 22nd, 1997 to Kevin N2TO. Submit e-mail messages with attached text files to kfglynn@prodigy.net or snail mail to:

Kevin F. Glynn
429-73rd Street
Brooklyn, NY 11209

Please include an SASE if you'd like to receive contest results. Results will be posted to QRP-L, LIQRP and NJ-QRP by year's end. Late entries will count as check logs.

Good luck!
... and remember, radio and holiday/family do mix!
