NJQRP Club News

August 9, 2002

Hi Folks -

This is a note describing important changes for ordering NJQRP goods and services.

Over the last six years, the NJQRP Club projects and kitting activities have grown from a virtual ground-zero start (see PS note at end), to today having 13 unique and QRP-related items for sale on our club website!  Kits like the Precision VXO, SOP Receiver, Badger SmartBadge, Low Power Balun, Islander Pad Cutter, PSK80 Warbler, PSK31 Audio Beacon, QRP Homebrewer Magazine, a very active website and e-mail reflector, and the annual Atlanticon QRP Forum, are all products of the dedication of your friends in the NJQRP.

However too, this has all grown to be a fairly big endeavor and an always-present commitment for those volunteers within the club doing the designing, parts ordering, kitting, order processing, mailing, event organizing and technical support.  We do our best at making these products and services available to QRPers everywhere at the lowest possible prices, but we're also looking for ways to improve our operations _and_ keep things in perspective for our volunteers providing those products.

To that end, we are very pleased to announce that DAVE PORTER, AA3UR has agreed to step up his already-active role in the club and now be responsible for all NJQRP club logistics, ordering and kitting operations.  Over the last year, Dave has been playing an ever-increasing role behind the scenes helping to organize the club in more efficient ways and spread the kitting workload across various teams of volunteers. He also played a pivotal role in organizing and running our Atlanticon QRP weekend this past April, and will be doing so again going forward.

>>>> EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY <<<<   ALL ORDERS FOR NJQRP GOODS & SERVICES GO TO "DAVE PORTER, AA3UR".  This includes orders for all kits, QRP Homebrewer subscriptions & inquiries, and Atlanticon reservations.  These orders can now be made electronically through PayPal (send funds to njqrp-kits@comcast.net ) or by writing check or Money Order to "Dave Porter, NJQRP" and sending to:
    Dave Porter, AA3UR
    647 Middle Holland Rd
    Holland, PA  18966

Both N2APB & N2CX will continue to play leading roles within the club, but thanks to AA3UR and his group of 6 kitting captains we'll also have more of our own volunteer time to devote to technical support and guidance, new designs, publishing technical articles in QHB, QQ, QRPp, SPRAT, websites, and speaking at various events throughout the year.  We'll also be standing right beside Dave in helping to make the transition smooth and support the newer ideas and operations coming along in the near future.

We are introducing several very exciting new kits in the near future -- and thanks to the encouragement and support of QRPers everywhere, the NJQRP is happily continuing doing its best to provide these fun kits, publications and events for everyone to take advantage of at rock bottom prices.  We thank everyone for that support!

72/73,
  George Heron, N2APB, n2apb@amsat.org
     and
  Joe Everhart, N2CX, n2cx@voicenet.com

  NJQRP Club at http://www.njqrp.org

PS:  At the start of this note we mention that the NJQRP had a virtual ground-zero start to our kitting activities.  The "virtual" part of it comes from a little-known fact that our very good friend KI6DS and the NorCal QRP Club were instrumental in helping us accomplish our first kitting project.  We continue to be sincerely thankful for that push-start and we dearly value the continuing "sibling relationship" we have with our west coast based counterparts. Thank you Doug. What a great hobby this QRP is!
