Another GREAT Sprint from the AZ ScQRPions! Not much heard on 40 except high static here. Condx on 20 not that good until the last hour when strong signals came up. Maybe I only thought so after the break for football scores. Keep 'em comming Joe and friends, for some more of the same!

N2CX ... "BUB, BUB BUBBA'IN along"

What a blast! Set up temporary 20/40 fan dipole an operated from a picnic table in the back yard. No pressure, no grass cutting, no honey-dos, simply BUBBLING along enjoying the sun, watching a rabbit eating clover in the yard (he left the garden alone today!) Even augmented the heat by cooking supper on the gas grill while contesting...

Temp peaked at 85 def F in my yard while the neighbors' thermo read 90 degrees. The sun charged my gel cell pack and I just went at a leisurely pace.

My new Sierra is well christened. 15 Q's mainly on 20 and a couple on 40. It seemed like everybody on 20 was from TX, although Brian, W5VBO cheated by being in AZ! The highlight was working Goran, EA8YU on 20 and and a bunch of NJQRP'ers on 40.

Score, what score?

Thanks to the ScQRPians for a great time. Gotta do this again!

N2APB Results

Had a great time setting up the portable station in the backyard: trusty ol' Sierra, battery pack, Galbraith paddles, Rainbow Bridge and a 40m Delta Loop (neighbors still ribbin' me for the glorified "clothes line" we have!). Was *very* tempted to set up the station in the next door neighbor's green house in the adjacent backyard ... what a way to get that temperature multiplier up there, but next time.

Didn't actually spent a great deal of operating time, but had some wonderful experimentation out in the sun with the new audio filter I built up ... the SCAF chips set, from the old QST article (April '86) and QRP Classics book (pg 205). Absolutely outstanding results after finding just the right settings. Combined with the recently added outboard IF filter width adjust on the Sierra (ABX control), I felt I could dig just about anything out of the busy band.

Stations worked: AA4XX, N4BP, K1OJ, AA8EB, WA8LCZ, K8CV. Not much of a score but hope I helped someone else along a bit. Had great time -- thanks bunches to Joe and the ScQRPians!!

N2TO Results

I was a BUBBA from Brooklyn, working from John Paul Jones Park at the foot of the Verrazano Bridge, where Tony from Saturday Night Fever and his sidekicks played for a while. I was out with my lovely YL Mary, Tony WW2W and Richie KG2MG. I threw a rock for a strike over a low branch up about 30+ feet up and I was set with my 40M ladder line center fed dipole.
